COVID-19 has brought about distress to many SMEs, it has also brought to light that we, as a society, can operate in much more efficient ways than we have done to date. Now, more than ever, SMEs require legal help with little (if none) financial ability to settle legal fees. In the UK, there are several clinics and law firms that provide pro bono support but finding this support is a tricky process. Prior to the pandemic, the legal industry has been trying to find ways in which technology can facilitate a better access to justice for all. However, to date, there is no one place that you can go to and easily navigate what help is currently available to you.

This is where we come in. We are creating an app that will bring together all providers of pro bono support for SMEs in the UK. The app will act as an advanced search engine allowing SMEs to search for and connect with pro bono clinics and law firms. This will eliminate hours of SMEs tediously surfing the web and provide faster, more efficient access to legal help. SMEs will be able to search by legal issues, location & availability and be presented with a list of clinics and law firms that they can apply to book an initial session with. Additionally, should SMEs require a quick answer to a simple legal question, they will be able to contact a lawyer or a supervised law student direct, through our “Online Response” option. Here, SMEs will be able to get quick answers or be directed to booking a session.
